Let’s Take a Food Journey to New York City

Paula and myself at Grand Central Station later in the day.

In October of 2011, I had the opportunity to fly to New York City for the first time in my life. As a photographer, it was a dream. My girlfriend at the time (We are still great friends) was turning the Big 5-0 and wanted me to photograph the entire trip. She didn’t want to go as a tourist but to take each day as if we lived there. Great idea to me, as I’m not much into tourism.

Walking the side streets and the back streets to infuse New York City into our veins is what it is all about. From ground level. We only made dinner reservations once, for her birthday. All the other times was spent meandering around the city. When our stomachs grumbled then we were on the look-out for interesting places to eat, not knowing if it was an award-winning eatery or has more food violations than we care to know about.

From Little Italy to Manhattan to Washington Park and little places in-between. No franchise eateries were on our radar. That was a big no-no. We can eat that crap back in Houston. Not here in New York City. You surely do not come to New York City if you are on a diet.

So put on your walking shoes and come follow us to the cafe’s we visited, the restaurant’s we dined and the pub’s & bar’s where we kicked back a nice cold one.

Now lets go eat!
